International Advanced Skull Base Microanatomy and Hands-On Dissection Course

This is an extremely intense cadaveric course which covers microanatomy, advanced micro-dissection techniques and complex approaches to the skull base. Expect a high level of active participation and case discussion led by an interdisciplinary European faculty and followed up with many hours of hands on dissection. Each delegate will be working in pairs on a Fixed for Life human cadaver. Participants will be asked to submit cases and present to them for group discussion. All participants are encouraged to actively engage in these sessions. The number of attendees is limited to ensure maximal training benefit.

This 3-day hands-on advanced cadaveric course is run by course director Andrew Schache and sponsored by Stryker. Pairs of Delegates undertake faculty-supported custom planning session bespoke to individual cadaver for resections AND all composite free. The course is aimed at consultants in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery specializing in head and neck reconstruction. Participants should have prior surgical experience of routine free tissue harvest (as a minimum) with ambition to develop complex free tissue transfer ability/techniques and associated skills. This dissection course is most suitable for neurosurgical residents in their final years of training, complementing the Step I cranial course in Brno and the hands-on course in Lyon. We will focus more in depth on the relevant neurosurgical anatomy, the planning and execution of advanced neurosurgical procedures, neuroendoscopy, and some skullbase approaches. Participants will learn the essential neurosurgical anatomy, the planning of surgical procedures, the handling of neurosurgical equipment, and advanced neurosurgical cranial approaches.The course capacity is limited to 20 participants.
